Maryborough - Full day tour

See the best of Maryborough with it's beautiful parks and gardens and historical buildings, most of which date back to the 1800's and have faithfully been restored. Our journey begins as we drive slowly through the city centre, for nowehere does the real flavour of Maryborough's heritage linger so strongly than amongst the old buildings, pubs and picturesque streets.

A tasty morning tea is included in Queens Park Botanic Gardens. Learn about early life in Queensland at the Portside Centre, located in the historic Wharf Street Precinct.

Reflecting the history of Maryborough as a thriving river port in the early days of Queensland, interactive displays, time capsules and a multimedia ghost display gives an insight into the city and its colourful origins. The Bond Store Museum and Customs House are incorporated within Portside, overlooking the tranquil Mary River.

Tour past some of the beautifully restored buildings and houses, including City Hall, built in 1908, and a number of magnificent old Queenslander homes.

A sumptous lunch is included at a local hotel, before visiting the Ululah Lagoons Waterbird Sanctuary, Maryborough first water supply, time to feed the waterbirds and wander through this beautiful parkland. Join the MV Proud Mary for a one hour coffee cruise on the Mary River, relive the river boat days and experience the grandeur of some of Maryborough's magificent old waterfront homes.

Rejoining the coach, travel across the city to Brennan and Geragthy's Store, listed with the National Trust, it features a huge array of old brand grocery items, long since forgotten and memorabilia of yesteryear. Continue to the old township site, one of the few original township sites in Australia left intact, where pioneer graves help create a sense of time suspended.

Our day concludes with a visit to the unique WooKoo Park, where sculptures of native animals will reveal a story of nearby Woocoo Shire. A true day of discovery, not to be missed.
